1. Is a building permit needed for remodeling?

A building permit is required if electrical, plumbing, foundations, roofing, additions, or structural components are affected. A permit is not required for cosmetic improvements like paint and wallpaper.

2. Do I need a permit to tear down a building?

Yes. A refundable deposit must be made and all utilities must be removed and/or capped. Upon completion of all inspections and approvals, the deposit will be returned.

3. Can I build an accessory building?

Accessory buildings may only be built in rear yards and must be at least five feet from the property lines. Other regulations also apply.
