Trash Container Guidelines
Residential solid waste shall be bagged and stored in reusable containers of not more than 35 gallons nor less than 20 gallons in capacity, and shall not exceed 75 pounds in weight.
Containers shall have handles and tapered sides for easy-emptying and shall be leak proof, waterproof, and fitted with a fly-tight lid and shall be properly covered at all times.
What is Considered Trash?
Trash is defined in Chapter 5, Article III of the Cameron City Code as:
- Empty food and drink containers
Residential trash does not consist of:
- Construction materials
- Large pieces of metal
- Hazardous chemicals / materials
Large Trash Pickup
The City of Cameron provides a special large item or bulky item pick-up the second Friday of every month. Large items must be placed street side (not in the alleys) by 7:30 am on collection day. Items picked up include furniture, carpets, appliances, etc. Appliances with freon must have the freon removed by a licensed professional. Contact R&W Container (816) 632-3590 to notify them of freon appliances to be picked up. Items not included; construction materials, large pieces of iron, tires, yard waste, hazardous chemicals.
Trash collection will not run on the following holidays and will be picked up the following day:
- New Years Day
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
